Master in biomedical sciences. Ghent University. (from 2001 to 2005)
Since 2006 PhD student in Neuroscience Ghent University

Domaine de compétences techniques et scientifiques :

Calcium imaging, techniques involving the study of gap junctions (FRAP, SLDT, ELDT) 
and hemichannels (ATP Release, Dye uptake) and general techniques (cell culture, western blot, immunostaining,….)

Thèmes principaux de recherche :

Signaling at the blood-brain barrier, more specifically, we are interested in the role of intracellular and intercellular calcium signals in the modulation of BBB permeability and transport across the BBB.
Furthermore, we also study the presence of connexin gap junctions and hemichannels in BBB endothelium, as well as their involvement in calcium signaling
